Can't Make It to the USA, The Middle East has become the best but reluctant alternative for Filipinos seeking employment elsewhere. The vicious cycle of Filipino manpower deployment to the Middle East has become so trivial; it has lost its implications to all of us --- most unfortunate, even among the people in government. |

Despite rhetorics by the power wielders in the Philippines, exportation of Filipino manpower will remain an unofficial policy because this is a quick fix to "solve" some of their problems, foremost of which is the steady dollar inflow. |

Filipinos in the Middle East The Middle East, perhaps, has the biggest concentration of overseas Filipino workers. In fact, a lot of Filipino dreams have either been made or unmade in this alien land. Today, there is no indication that the numbers will ever decrease. By the day, thousands of unsuspecting Filipinos are trooping the Manila international airport in the vain hope that their lives will improve once they reach the Middle East. |

Makapag-iipon Ka sa Middle East Marami ang nagsasabi na kapag sa Middle East ka nagtrabaho, siguradong makag-iipon ka. Subalit maraming pag-aaral ang naisulat na nagsasaad na malaking bilang ng mga Pilipinong galing sa Gitnang Silangan ang patuloy na naghihikaos matapos ang ilang taong paghihirap sa mga bansang Arabo. Nakapagtataka marahil sa marami kung paano ito nangyayari gayong sinasabing totoong nakap-iipon naman ang mga Pilipinong nagtratrabaho sa Gitnang Silangan. Subukan nating ipaliwanag ang trahedyang ito sapagkat hindi biro ang lumayo sa iyong pamilya upang bigyan sila ng maayos na buhay pagkatapos naman pala ay sa paghihikaos pa rin mauuwi ang lahat. |
Ano nga ba ang bago sa ating pamahalaan? Mayroon ba o maghihintay muna uli tayo ng eleksiyon upang muling makapakinig ng mababangong pangako? Sa isang banda, mabuti naman at may mga sangay ng pamahalaang pilit na tumutugon sa kanilang tungkulin. Para sa mga OFW, ano ba ang OWWA? |
